Project profile
Damron has been producing its very popular gay travel guides for over 20 years. Production had been relegated to offshore printers due to cost concerns. No on-site press checks were being conducted, and delivery of the books sometimes topped 3 months. Little Jackie Paper stepped in and suggested the books be bid to print in the US. The strict policies many manufacturers have against printing any gay-themed material (regardless of whether they include any explicit content) posed additional challenges both here and abroad.

Client Goals
Maintain print quality levels that dedicated client base had become accustomed to, and increase color accuracy by adding in-person press checks. Identify manufacturer who would produce gay-themed travel books with minimal restrictions.

Keep costs per book in check.

Results
Little Jackie Paper had been working with US book printers whose equipment proved a perfect match for Damron's Guides. Although print prices per book were slightly higher, by being able to avoid overseas courier, freight, and customs charges, price per book to produce the guides here in the US fell well within budget.

Printing the books in the US reduced the complete production cycle from 3 months to 3 weeks.
